Incredible Recovery Of Neglected Tiger Cub After Rescuing Her From Circus

When Vicki Keahey, founder of the In-Sync Wildlife Rescue and Education Center in Texas, found Asha, she was extremely ill. She was showing clear signs of malnutrition and weighed less than the 100 pounds a 3-month-old animal should have, but she was almost 9 months old.

Vicki was concerned about Asha’s weakening and tried to find out what had happened.

How could a 9-month-old tiger be so small,” she told The Dodo. It turned out that the tiger cub had been part of a traveling circus troupe. She was caged with larger animals and could not eat. She also developed a skin infection called ringworm, but lack of care exacerbated the problem.

Vicki decided to take Asha outside to take care of her. She was placed in an isolated enclosure at In-Sync Exotics, The Dodo reported. Asha’s baldness covered most of her body and her skin had stretch marks, dark spots and bleeding. Vicki said. I went to Asha twice daily to give her medicine and spend time with her. I knew I had to take care of her to make her better. And after weeks of proper care, this stray cat never recovered.

Vicki says, “After eight weeks of treatment, you can see hair growing back in the bald areas. But it took about eight months for Asha to recover at a phenomenal rate; after eight months, Vicki continues, “it was time to see how she reacted to other tigers, as she became like a real tiger.

Now she is looking different!
